Call It Even

I said some things I didn't mean
Slammed a door between you and me
Drove around till half past two
Every red light looked like you
I'm not here to win the fight
I just don't wanna lose tonight

I said some things I meant a bit
But not the way they came out of it
Sat on the stairs with my phone in my hand
Writing sorry I couldn't send
I'm not here to keep a score
I just want you back through that door

So what do we do now

We meet in the middle somehow

Let's call it even, call it love
Put down the pride, it's not enough
You hold my hand, I'll hold my tongue
We were never meant to be the stubborn ones
Let's call it even, call it home
Neither one of us wants to be alone
Turn the lights down, let it go
Call it even, take it slow

You always leave the cabinets wide

You always say you're fine when you're not fine

I hum too loud in the shower

And I'm late by at least an hour

But I'd rather fight with you than smile with someone new

Let's call it even, call it love
Put down the pride, it's not enough
You hold my hand, I'll hold my tongue
We were never meant to be the stubborn ones
Let's call it even, call it home
Neither one of us wants to be alone
Turn the lights down, let it go
Call it even, take it slow

Come here

I'm here

No more keeping score this year

Let's call it even, call it love
Put down the pride, it's not enough
You hold my hand, I'll hold my tongue
We were never meant to be the stubborn ones
Let's call it even, call it home
Neither one of us wants to be alone
Turn the lights down, let it go
Call it even, take it slow

Even
